Location & Info Yinchuan (Phoenix city) is the capital of Ningxia. It is said that, long time ago there were seven sisters of phoenixes and they went on a trip to see beautiful mountains and rivers. After a long flight, they found a green land surrounded by a yellow dessert. The youngest sister was attracted by this beautiful jade-like green land and decided to stay. She said goodbye to her sisters and then landed facing to the Yellow River and tailing on the Helan Mountain. She spread her two wings and turned herself into the beautiful city - Yinchuan. Yinchuan has a long history as a frontier outpost and trading center and now serve as the region's main industrial, transportation, and administrative and cultural center. Ningxia also boasts of mineral resources, such as sodium, magnesium, hydraulic ammonia, lime nitrogen and niobium. The gas reserves in the " Shan Gan Ning Natural Gas Field" exceeds 290 billion tons and it is one of the largest gas fields in the world. Situated in the eastern part of the inland northwest, Ningxia is at the Great Bend of the Huanghe River. Located between 104.17° E - 107.38° E longitude and 35.14° N - 39.23° N latitude, northern Ningxia is surrounded by Inner Mongolia while the southern part is bounded by Gansu Province and on the east by Shanxi Province. The whole region is 2,000 meters above sea level, although generally the southern part is higher than the northern. The climate is characterized by cold weather in the south, warmer weather in the north as well as wet weather in the south and dry weather in the north. Ningxia Medical College, offers 6 levels of teaching programs for the postgraduates, undergraduates, three-year training students, adult education students, higher vocational technological education students and secondary specialized students. The Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical College covers an area of 110 000 square meters Today the hospital has 1244 ward s and a staff of over 2000. Among them 1389 are technical personnel, including 274 high-leveled professionals 454 mid - level professionals. The Dept of cardiovascular medicine & surgery neurological medicine & surgery tumor medicine & surgery burns healing, X - ray radiotherapy etc. have the best technical forces in the Region. The hospital can perform some very complicated operations, such as open 1~art surgery, cardiac valve replacement and transplantation, excision of cerebral, kidney transplants replantation of severed limbs fingers and toes removal of vertebral discs,. with discscope etc Some of the operations are new initiatives in the Region some of thesn~ming up to the national standards. In 1996 the hospital evaluated as the first one to reach the highest level among the third - grade hospitals. Weather – Yinchuan, situated in the arid northwest of China, has a harsh climate. The temperatures of the four seasons are fairly distinctly separated here, although in any season the likelihood is that you will experience strong winds, dryness and frequent sandstorms. The average yearly temperature is between 8 and 9 degrees C. The coldest month of January averages minus 9, while the hottest month has an average of 23 degrees C. Annual rainfall, despite the picture on our right, is less than 8 inches.

Admission Eligibility Criterion: Should have completed 12th Standard successfully with at least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology(PCB) group.SC/ST/OBC students are allowed up to 40% in the PCB group. PCB + English aggregate should be at least 50% in the 12th standard. SC/ST/OBC students are allowed up to 40% for the same. Must be 17 years of age on 31st December of year of joining. Documents to be submitted: Application form to be filled with complete details and submitted. 10th, 11th and 12th standard Marks Cards should be enclosed(Originals plus one set of photocopies). Migration (Also called as Transfer Certificates, school Leaving Certificates.), 6 passport size photographs(latest copies). Physical fitness certificate issued by authorized doctors. Copy of Passport. Caste Certificate to be submitted in case of SC/ST/OBC categories. The submitted documents of the students are sent to the Medical Council of India(MCI) for procuring the eligibility Certificates. Next, the documents are sent to the Lioning Medical University for admission processing. The admission letter of the students is procured along with appropriate break up of the fee structre for 4-12 years. Next, the pre-approved Student's Visa in favour of the students is processed by the Lioning Medical University and duly dispatched. The departure date to China is intimated to the students and they will be expected to be completely ready for flying onward to China for their respective medical education in the due time. All the students will be gathered at a common location for an orientation and introduction program before flying to China.

Foreign Students Program: English medium MBBS program. NMC began to enroll international students in 2004. Currently 3 batches are running. There are a total of 200 Indian students in NMC.

Hostel: Hostel facility is available in university premises on win bed sharing system equipped with TV, Telephone, Internet Connection, drinking Water supply, air conditioner, attached bathroom with hot water supply etc. Approximately Charges $600 per year.

Travel to Yinchuan - The students who will be selected and thus have taken admission will have to prepare the following documents before applying for a visa in the Chinese embassy; Police verification certificate from the Chief of Police of his/her area. 3 colored recent passport size photographs. Blood tests for HIV, HBV and HCV from any authentic laboratory. Medical certificate of fitness from any government hospital. Valid passport After they are approved admission by the University, the students will be sent a JW-202 forms (an invitation by the University to get a visa in the Chinese Embassy) within one month. They will also be sent an official acceptance letter by the University. They have to take these 2 along with the above mentioned documents with them when they are visiting Chinese embassy for application of the visa. They will be provided with the visa within 3-5 days of time from the Embassy. After the visa is stamped, they must take one way ticket from to Beijing to Yinchuan. After landing on Yinchuan airport, the University bus will be waiting to pick them up.

Food in the city – Food is cheaper in China. Students use to eat in University Canteen. All type of continental foods are available for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians students can also cook by themselves which will cost them less. Approximately Charges: $500 per year.

Shopping in the city On campus: The University has 2 Shops in the students hostel. Off campus: It will take you 5 minutes walking distance to go to the super market XHDS 10 min by bus to one of the city’ s biggest supermarket- Beijing Hualian. There are lots of shops or supermarkets available. XHDS one of the biggest and best supermarkets in Ningxia, is on Xin Hua Jie, The Computer DIY Center is on the Da Zhong Lu, two large computer markets opposite one another. Walking Street [Bu Xin Chi] - full of clothes, shops, shoe shops, opticians, and other odds and ends. You can bargain in most of the stores. Ningxia City Center is the biggest shopping center in Yinchuan. There are 3 Shung Chang markets where you can have clothes in cheaper rate.
