Location & Info Wenzhou Medical College (WMC), rooted from Zhejiang Medical School in 1912, is a public institution of higher learning directly under Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Education. It is located in Wenzhou, a southeast coastal city with 40-minutes flight from metropolitan Shanghai. Wenzhou is a place where you can enjoy pleasant climate, charming scenery and exciting life. Wenzhou Medical College is composed of three campuses, located respectively at Xueyuan Road, Xiushan and Chashan, covering an area of 73 ha. (=1100 mu) with a building floor of 180,000 m2. The school library has a collection of 700,000 books and 1100 categories of periodicals either in Chinese or foreign languages. Subordinate to WMC are 6 institutes, 1 experimental animal center, 10 affiliated hospitals totaling 7,000 odd beds, 46 teaching hospitals or hospitals for clinical internships. 15 centers of Laboratory, among them 3 are Key Laboratories of Ministerial level Involving branches of medicine, science, engineering, liberal arts, laws and management, Wenzhou Medical College offers 26 5-year Bachelor's degree programs, a 7-year program leading to Master's degree, 1 joint doctorate program and 3 doctorate programs. Now it has over 12,000 undergraduates and nearly 700 postgraduates. Of more than 1,000 faculty, odd 550 have professorships or the equivalent academic titles. From 2006, Wenzhou Medical College was authorized to confer doctorate degrees in Ophthalmology, Surgery and Gynecology. Wenzhou Medical College is one of the first institutions authorized by the State Council to confer Master's degree. It offers 15 Master's degrees now in Ophthalmology & Optometry, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Anesthesia, Pathology and Physiology, Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine & West Medicine, etc. The Program of Ophthalmology & Optometry is the first one established in China to train optometric professionals with medical background. Given their distinguished achievements in the optometric development, Ministry of Public Health of China based its first and only national Center of Optometry Research in WMC. A Sino-U.S. joint program for Doctorate of Optometry is now under way. In recent years WMC has been very active in academic exchanges and friendly visits with other countries and regions. Intercollegiate relationships have been established with New England College of Optometry U.S.A., Pacific University U.S.A., University of Queensland Australia, Burapha University Thailand, Miyazaki Medical College Japan, Medical College China, Karl-Franzens University Graz Austria, Sun Yat-sen Medical University Taiwan, etc. Since 1999, WMC was authorized to enroll overseas students and open English medium program. Admission Qualification for Application Undergraduate: An applicant who is minimum a high secondary graduate with good health and without criminal record, applicants for Dental program should be used to right hand to operate Applicants must have passed Grade twelve (10+2) or equivalent, minimum 60% score in science subjects (PCB): Physics, Chemistry, Biology Among all the subjects, English Language is as a compulsory one and the level is good , Age should be minimum 18 years old at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st October of the year of his/her admission Documents for Application: An applicant should submit the scan copies of higher second school Certificate, Transcript, Passport, PP Size picture by E-mail attachment Time of application and registration: There is only autumn session—Oct/Sept session yearly; the admission deadline is August 15 （ may close early too if the seats are filled according to Availability of seats ） ,. Any student should submit his/her documents and confirm seats before August 15 so that college can process Admission Letter and JW202 Study Visa Form in time. The class starts in October and new foreign students shall come to the college sign up and register during October 10 to October 15 Application Procedure: The students for the above mentioned programs should apply through and submit related documents to College's representative---Omega/Worlin Education or it's Authorized Agents After assessing the application Form with all necessary documentation, the college will issue the Admission Letter and JW202 Study Visa Form and forward to the college's representative, then the college's representative or it's Authorized Agents will post to the candidates After receiving the Admission Letter and JW202 Study Visa Form, the students should go through the formalities of visa in the Chinese embassy of respective countries. Entrance and Registration: 1. The class starts in October and new foreign students should come to the School of International Studies to sign up and register. 2. New foreign students should go through the following procedures at registration. 2.1 Submit their Admission Letter signed signature, passport along with X (Study) Visa and JW202 Visa Form, original parent's Assurance Letter, original senior high school certificate and mark sheet to the college 2.2 Pay off all of fees to the college 2.3 Make confirmations of Foreigner's Health Checking Record at local hospital in china. 2.4 Apply for Foreigner Residence Permits from the Division of Aliens and Exit- Entry Administration Municipal Public Security Bureau. 3. Attend entrance education for half a day and listen to the introduction of the laws, decrees and regulations and rules that foreign students should abide by in China .

Hostel: The college provides hostel to the international students. Two persons share a room with air conditioner, attached bathroom, color TV, telephone, bed with required amenities and furniture, free hot―drinking--- water heater, refriger, public laundry and kitchen, internet access. Students are required to pay the electricity and water they used.

Travel to Wenzhou- The students who will be selected and thus have taken admission will have to prepare the following documents before applying for a visa in the Chinese embassy; Police verification certificate from the Chief of Police of his/her area. 3 colored recent passport size photographs. Blood tests for HIV, HBV and HCV from any authentic laboratory. Medical certificate of fitness from any government hospital. Valid passport After they are approved admission by the University, the students will be sent a JW-202 forms (an invitation by the University to get a visa in the Chinese Embassy) within one month. They will also be sent an official acceptance letter by the University. They have to take these 2 along with the above mentioned documents with them when they are visiting Chinese embassy for application of the visa. They will be provided with the visa within 3-5 days of time from the Embassy. After the visa is stamped, they must take one way ticket from to Shanghai to Wenzhou. After landing on Wenzhou airport, the University bus will be waiting to pick them up.

Food in the city – Food is cheaper in China. Students use to eat in University Canteen. All type of continental foods are available for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians students can also cook by themselves which will cost them less. Approximately Charges: $500 per year.

Shopping in the city Wenzhou, famed as the 'Clothes World' and 'Shoe City' in China, is where you can find clothes and shoes of the latest styles and fashions at reasonable prices. You can go shopping on Wu Ma Street, Chan Jie Street, Jie Fang Road, Ren Min Road and Shamao He Women Street. The various clothes, shoes and exquisite ornaments sold in the stores along these streets or roads will certainly satisfy your requirements. If you want to buy some souvenirs, the traditional embodiments, glutinous rice sculptures, and stone sculptures are all good choices. Two peculiar items, 'Dragon Beard' mats and Taishun lacquer chopsticks are also interesting presents for your friends. You can make such purchases of these objects in tourist spots, supermarkets, malls and some special present markets in the city.
